Cheaply Made & Unsafe Sep 30, 2008
By L. J. Fink My wife and I had taken up bike riding again, and because of her shoulder surgery, and her limited mobility, she found it difficult to perform hand signals. I researched Amazon and found a battery operated turn signal kit available through Bike World USA. The price ($8.99) was so inexpensive that I decided to order an additional kit for myself.
After the kits arrived (with no instructions), I began to try and mount one on my bike. I figured out how to open the kit up to insert the AA batteries. As I gently squeezed the two plastic "catches" that hold the kit together, one of them broke from its fitting. I tired to put the piece back in its place after installing the batteries, but it refused to stay.
I managed to close the kit anyway. I tried the turn signals on , they did not flash. I tried again, and they flashed in each direction. A few minutes later, I saw smoke coming from the kit. I immediately took the kit apart and removed the batteries. I determined that this kit was not only cheaply made, but unsafe as well. I contacted the manufacturer of the El Gordo turn signals and they were no help at all. Then I called Bike World USA, and explained what happened, they empathized with me and took care of the problem.
So unfortunately, my wife and I cannot use these turn signals. So now, when we ride, I follow her and use my hand signals. Save your money and do what I do.

Don't buy! Aug 03, 2008
By Tim Pagel Item worked fo only a moment once batteries installed. Switch is not the issue her but the circuit board is defectived. Cut the board out, hard wire to switch and replace the lights with 2.5v flashers and it works fine.

"Lowrider"
i just orderd the lights for my lowrider bike. they are ok the wire could be longer for thos who have lowrider bikes and the switch needs to be fixed. there is a lose or wire inside of it and causes the lights not to work all the time and the screw that hold the circuit board down was stripped and i had to replace it

Waste of money Sep 06, 2011
By frogger Blinker barely visable. Lights are very delayed, by the time they go on you've already made the turn and then some. Waste of money. Totally disappointed.
