Almost perfect Dec 04, 2008
By J. Pierce Great size, very strong, love the high sides, snugs into hitch to eliminate rattling... only complaint is it is a real close fit when folded up. It doesn't quite clear the rear bumper on my Honda Pilot (it's real close and I can use a smaller diameter bolt to hold it up since I can't fold it up far enough to use the provided bolt), but does fully fold up on my 4Runner, so be careful if your hitch doesn't extend slightly past your bumper. Other strange thing was the cotter pin was too large in diameter to fit through bold... had to drill it out some.

Nice product, but fit and finish could use work. Dec 20, 2008
By OIFvet Great product, I like the high sides, and it is really rugged. I had a couple of problems with fit and finish with some of the hardware though.
A washer that goes on the bolt to connect the basket with its arm was too small, so I had to buy a larger one. Also, the pin that secures the basket in either an up or down position doesn't fit through its hole, so I will have to either grind it down or buy a smaller pin.
Lastly, on my RAV4, I can't fold it up because of the spare tire on the back of my car, so I purchased a 6" hitch extender so that I could fold it up.
As far as the small bolt that screws into the hitch receiver to secure the rack to the hitch is kind of untrusting, so I bought sport racks Locking Hitch Pin, which still threads into the hitch receiver, but is full length and also lockable.

Great rack, is a hit with my family! Aug 05, 2010
By Jeff Purchased this item for use on my 2010 Honda Pilot. The rack fits perfectly on the vehicle and can haul a lot of gear. The high sides help to keep items in place, we also purchased it with the matching cargo net and they make a great combination. I also like that the way the rack is built to be above the hitch, this gets it above the exhaust on my SUV, this was a concern with some other racks I have seen that come straight out from the hitch. I have not tried the folding feature since it would most likely block being able to use the back hatch on the vehicle. As some other reviewers have noted, the threaded bolt supplied with the unit to hold it to the hitch looked a bit small to me. I took the block out of the neck of the rack and use a locking through bolt that I use with my towing kit for my trailer hitch.
Once again if you plan to purchase this rack I highly recommend the matching cargo net, it does a great job of keeping items in place on the rack and is sized to exactly fit the rack.
Overall I the rack has been great for my family and has enabled us to free up room in the back of our vehicle and carry bulky items like coolers or smelly items like the trash and recycling after a weekend camping. You won't be disappointed with this rack!

Good Value But Fit With Bumper Apr 28, 2008
By Matthew J. Weimann
"boatgrunt"
I am a big stickler for good directions, and this folding basket by SportRack came with great directions and was easy to assemble. The size and features of this rack (most notably the high rail) combined with its low price make this an excellent deal. Solid design and construction.
My only disappointment was that when folded into the up position, the rack hits my bumper and cannot be secured. I will probably drill a few holes and move the rack out a bit on the arm to gain the additional clearance. Also, SportRack puts a wierd plastic mount and nut inside the male-end of the hitch mount and provides a little bolt that is suppose to secure the entire rack to the trailer hitch. Bad design...it's almost impossible to hold the rack in place and thread a bolt. I knocked the plastic piece out of the inside of the male end of the hitch and just used a pin. Worked great.
Overall, great product and value. Would recommend to anyone.

If only I could use the fold up feature Aug 11, 2011
By Eric Shannon The hitch is reasonable quality, but the finish could be better. I bought this for a 2011 Jeep-Grand Cherokee, but it hits the bumper and cannot be folded up. Would be nice to know in advance how far the receiver must stick out in order to actually use the folding feature. Can save about $45 for the fixed hitch.
