First experience, but no complaints Jan 01, 2010
By Lynn Benson I got this for my 8 year old son. Not having ever needed a cup or supporter for myself I really didn't know what to expect. And it turns out this set worked just great! The underwear held the cup snugly, without him ever complaining about it. And so it offered protection and it didn't work against him -- I suppose that's all you could ask for.

Protection where it counts Feb 28, 2012
By K. Brown We needed the cup for sparring in Taekwondo. First off, the cup itself is soft and flexible around the edges, which is a good thing. However, the cup itself is narrow compared to the Shock Doctor Ultra Carbon Flex cup that I also purchased. If you boy's waist is more than 26", it may not fit for children who need the large briefs. It was too small for my skinny 9yr old son, which caused the cup to push out and away from his body when worn. In addition, the briefs themselves run small. I used the size chart provided on the Shock Doctor website to make sure I got the right size and they were still too small. The problem wasnt that they were all over tight because they should be a little. The problem was they did not cover his butt and the waist band (very wide) was too tight. It looked like he was wearing two sizes too small.
So I ordered my 9 yr old the teen ultra carbon cup with jock strap from Shock Doctor to wear under his own briefs. He is happy now. Good Luck on your quest for protection.

Perfect Fit and Comfortable Aug 18, 2011
By S. Sharma My son is 9.5 years old, 4 ft 10 inches tall and weighs about 85 lbs. He plays football in the Peewee category (80-100 lbs). This brief and cup is the perfect size for him. The material is stretchable so I think it will last him at least an year if not more. He said that it is very comfortable to play in and has never complained of any kind of discomfort. Here's a link to the sizing chart at Shock Doctor's website[...] for those looking for information on sizing.

Ultra slightly better Mar 22, 2012

New info: the Ultra product (not this one) has a more flexible cup, seems more comfortable to an 8-year-old. Otherwise echo what others have said: good product, but runs small.
