4They work okay, could be better made  Mar 15, 2009 By Comp Expert "Comp"
These aren't full length fenders but road bikes have a difficult time accepting mounted full length fenders without extensive modification. Unless it rains a hundred inches per year in your area, you probably don't need to go through that pain/expense. That's where these SKS fenders come into play. They simply mount on with the oversized rubber bands. It's not pretty, but having dirt stripes up your back is even uglier when not using a fender at all.

I was a little disappointed with the construction of these units. For a universal fit system it should've had more adjustments available. On my bike the rear wasn't too hard to find the right spot, but the front was a pain. The problem was exacerbated by how the U-shape clip isn't exactly a low profile and will hit the downtube wires if it's up just a little too high. These are the XL versions but even with my 25mm GP4000 tires it seemed barely wide enough without potential rubbing. If you have 28mm tires I'd say forget it, these aren't going to work. The composite fender jiggles and bounces so it could use better internal reinforcement. This of course forces you to ensure there is lots of clearance to prevent rubbing.

In performance, I rode through heavy ponded areas and they worked brilliantly. My shoes were no longer soaked right off the bat as they would've been without fenders. No dirt stripes either. So, they do work after all. Some potholes did manage to mess up the alignment of the fender but it's no big deal.

Overall, these could be better made for adjustment as I mentioned. The price is high but well worth it the first time you use them in the rain... I can honestly say I fear those road puddles much less now.

Edit: Been using them more and found that if you use zip ties they become more solidly "mounted" than just the rubber bands which have a tendency to drift downwards. Even the meanest potholes and bumping my leg into the fenders doesn't budge them anymore. You can get a whole bag of zipties at a hardware store for just a few bucks so even cutting them off pretty often isn't costly.

5Easy On/Off - Protects suberbly  Dec 10, 2008 By Bycycle Dude "Paul"
I ride with a bike club group ride every day rain or shine. I found most fenders the riders have on their road bikes were seat post mounted. And pretty short in length -- Which still allowed splash in my face when following behind. There isn't enough room on my seat post as I have some other things taking up the space. So I can not use that type of mounting. With these fenders I didn't need either fender mounting holes, nor did I need to attach it on to a seat post. These are very light weight. Best thing is they really cover down over the back wheel very well, and with the new Soft-Spoiler' included, an addtional piece that is snaped on the very end of the fender it really keeps not only me dry but those riding right up close behind me. I had no problem with clearance issues. I didn't have to do any 'adjusting' of them. Right out of the package I put them on in about 3-4 minutes! I purchased the 700/23-32 size as I use 23 (size tires) in the good weather and go to 25's in the winter weather/rain/light snow. These were so easy to put on - and the rubber straps will make it a 3 second job to remove them. It even comes with a clear protective sheet to put on your frame if you think the part that rests on your stays will mess up your paint/frame. I didn't bother with that as it looked like they are not going to move around to scratch anything. I highly recommend these because they are easy to use, very light weight, and great on a road or road racing bike. Best of all they really do the job. I put them on a Trek WSD Madone 5.9.

4A workable solution for "mount-challenged" bikes  Sep 25, 2009 By Matthew Wachowski "mattwach"
My bicycle has a carbon front fork and does not accept conventional fenders so I gave these a try. After riding in the rain several times, I can say that they work fine.

Installation only took a few minutes, although I had to tweak the positioning a few times to avoid tire scraping in all circumstances (going over bumps, etc). After riding scrape-free for a ride or two, I applied the optional-and-included zip ties to give the fenders a bit more permanence. I also installed the included bracket screws to keep the fender shape from changing unintentionally (initially, the fender needs to be shaped to the tire / frame profile of your bike; this is done by sliding the brackets).

An issue I still have is that the gap between the rear fender and my rear rack is small, so the two can contact each other when going over larger bumps. I've looked into it a bit, and am still not sure how to prevent this; its something I can live with for now.

I'll also say that these fender look very nice (as far as fenders go). I was expecting these to completely nullify the sporty look of my bike and was pleasantly surprised that the bike still looks good with them installed.

3Raceblades  Nov 20, 2010 By Benjamin Sutton
Good fenders. I think a bit overpriced. Rubber bands are sturdy, but I would alternate direction you install each bracket. That way each band is pulling opposite to the other. That way one is left the other right that way the mount stays center on the fork. If not every bump is going to jostle the mount and cause the fender to rub. I have not tried the zip ties yet maybe if I find the need to install permanently I would.

These are plastic, the plastic does shift and sway, say if your on a power stroke or just starting. As well the shape may change out of nowhere. My buddy has a pair the same style that are metal and are shaped to your wheel and a bit cheaper. The plastic needs to be adjusted by the brackets holding to the wire, to form the right shape. It takes some time to get all the little things done correctly, but once done, 5 minute install and removal.

Pros:
Strong Bands
Easy install/removal
Light weight

Cons:
Overpriced
No matter how good you install, you are going to hear it rub the wheel at some point
The little adjustments can be annoying.

Overall:
The shipping was on time, in good condition, with extra bands and zip ties, also not shown in the picture is a mud flap that attaches.

Hope this helps

4great fenders for track frame  Jul 27, 2010 By n
I searched high and low for fenders that worked well with my track frames. These fenders do the trick. I love how simple it is to install and de-install. If the forecast calls for rain I just pop them on. I have a couple bikes so having this portable option is wonderful.

cons:
they do tend to move around a little bit if not attached tightly; calling for small adjustments here and there. But again, having a track frame I have very little clearance between my front tire and frame. Also the fenders are designed to flex with their mounts so that you can better shape the fender to your tire but after a while my front fender moves too freely and I have to secure it with a piece of tape -- not a big deal but kind of annoying.
