When Comfort Matters Most... Oct 23, 2009
By Ambergris
"John Thomas"
Anyone that rides for either pleasure or competition knows that most bikes, especially cheap ones inevitably come with cheap grips. But this rule of law is most true in regard to lower price comfort bikes. You know the kind, big seat, fat tires, and handlebars that don't require that you bend over and ruin your spine. In other words, my kind of bike. The standard grips on most comfort bikes are practically useless for even a moderate amount of riding time. One has to ride for a while with your hands resting on cheap grips to experience how sore they get. I have actually finished rides with my fingers only resting on the grips for the palms were that sore. Its not long before you despise them and set out to make comfy grips your number one modification. A lot of fine grips on Amazon are designed for both non slip, (which is more important to the competitive biker), and comfort (which is more important to the recreational biker). These Ravx bar grips are the very best I have owned when full cushion comfort is the most important factor in your upgrading to a better grip. Not that they exactly keep you comfortable while at the same time allowing your hands to slip all over the place. But my own experience with this grip, and others I simply tried out, is that they may be a bit slipperier than the more competitive minded biker would like. As for sheer comfort, they are tops. I have ridden for 20 miles or more with these grips and found them extremely comfortable long, long after other grips would have started to dig in. Quite simply put, they are the best cushioned bicycle grip I have ever come across, and I highly recommend them, if indeed your number one priority is maximum comfort in an upgrade. I bought my set at a bike shop that charged me more for what Amazon sells their set for, including the shipping, and I still feel I got my moneys worth. These grips also come in different colors if avoiding the fashionable eclectic look is important to you.
I recommend buying these grips, and also buying them on Amazon. And by the way, the best way to remove old grips is by carefully slicing them length wise with a sharp knife just enough that they squirm, then you can pull them off. And the easiest way to install these new grips is to dip them right into a bowl of warm water with dish washing liquid until well soaked, then they will easily slip on your bike handle. They will dry in no time and you will be on your way, in much better comfort...

They work for me Jan 30, 2009

I have arthritis in my hands and wrists. My thumbs are especially sore. I just started riding again after about 10 years off. These are cushy and broad. I put them on back-wards (wrong-handed and up-side-down) because that worked best for me giving me the widest rest area where I needed it. I think they are great, I wouldn't be able to ride with-out grips like this and they are very resonably priced.

Awesome Grips Oct 31, 2008

These grips are great. I ride at least 13 miles a day on a Trek 820 mountain bike to work and back. I bought these grips cause my fingers would sometimes go numb and these grips are ergo shape. They are much better than "round" grips. There soft but not too soft and do what there supposed to to meaning GRIP. When your hilling and you need to grab a fist full of handelbar these grips are solid. LOL plus it helps that the red color matches my bike.. gotta look good doing it right and these grips look good too.

SLOW SHIPPER - Great Grips Oct 06, 2009
By Old Hippie I ordered these handlebar grips based on the 5 star reviews. Ordered on Oct. 1, 2009. SIX days later - not even an email confirmation that they have shipped. I emailed BikeSomeWhere - I called them too. Finally, I got a response - "They will ship out tomorrow." Two days later...again, "They will ship out tomorrow."
After two weeks - they finally arrived. The grips themselves are fine - in fact - great; thumbs up. The shipper...thumbs down. I suggest going to the RavX website & looking for a dealer to get them from. BikeSomeWhere is slo-o-o-o-o-w!
