Fast Acting! Dec 08, 2007
By Orpharion PERSONAL ACCOUNT: I live in a rural area where I take my black labrador for evening walks. We often encounter loose or stray dogs eager to challenge us. My only defense had been to pull on my dog's leash, yell at canine attackers to go away and hope for the best. Last week I took along a can of HALT. Within minutes of leaving the house 2 large aggressive dogs came charging toward us as we rounded a corner. I whipped out the spray and delivered a dose to the lead attacker, who instantly stopped in his tracks. He and his buddy hurriedly left the scene!
CONVENIENCE FACTOR: It's easy to carry the can in a coat pocket or clip it to your jeans. The trigger is well designed to make it easy to aim in a hurry. The small can fits easily in your hand if you wish to keep it handy on your walks. I was carrying it my coat pocket during the time of the attack and was able to retrieve it quickly. NOTE: I've added 2 customer images showing how well the can fits in your hand.
EFFECTIVENESS: The repellent stopped the charging lead attacker within a distance of 5 feet. The dog did not yelp or appear to be in any discomfort, but his aggressive intentions were instantly thwarted. He and his companion have not bothered us since that evening. I highly recommend this dog repellent.

Yes, but watch out for dog owners reaction Jan 31, 2008
By T. Griebe I agree with the other reviewers that Halt stops dogs in their tracks and they don't yelp. What they do though, is run back home and start trying to wipe the chemical from their eyes and face. When the owners see this (yes they watched the whole attack, snickering to themselves),the owners will come after you. This has happened twice to me. In one case the owner chased me with the leashed dog and released it on me and my dog to verify I had sprayed the dog. After you nail the dog, get the heck out of there.

This product saved my dogs life Jun 18, 2006
By Bobbie J. Our dog trainer recommended this product and I bought it to carry with me when I walked my dog or road my bike. My daughter was walking our dog when it was attached by a large, stray dog. My daughter sprayed this in the dogs face and it sedated the dog instantly and my daughter was able to go to the nearest house for help. My dog suffered some rather large wounds, but I can't imagine what would have happened had my daughter not carried it with her. She probably would have tried to intervene and got attached herself.

Very Disappointed Oct 19, 2008
By mary ellen As a professional dog walker, my first interest is in the safety of myself and the client dog entrusted to my care. I purchased this product with that in mind. On one occasion, I had a large unleashed dog spot me and my client dog, my first reaction was to calmly try to go the other way, but I could see the unleashed dog was determined to come at us. I stopped, had my HALT in hand and used it (I did feel the stream distance was good),but it did NOT deter the dog. I think I soaked his face, but it did nothing more than squirting water. Thankfully the unleashed dog's owner came out of the house and retrieved his dog, and apologized. I would not purchase this product again, nor would I recommend it.

Rider Oct 01, 2007
By Rider I have a dog next door who chases anything that moves and will bite at moving objects. I ride a motorcycle down my drive and he used to chase and attempt to bite. I spoke with my good neighbors several times but they do not control him. In the interest of good relationships (and rather than taking the action I had in mind - dead dog)I obtained this spray and sprayed him with it when he chased my motorcycle. It does stop this very aggresive dog in his tracks. I am not sure if continued application will deter him from his habit of chasing motorcycles but it does work when applied. I think I am too nice.
