Fizik Microtex Soft Touch Bar Tape Sep 29, 2010
By Darren Buck Outstanding bar tape. In thirty years of cycling, the Fizik tape is the best I've found. Plenty of length. Moderate thickness. It's grip is relentless, even when wet.
This tape is intended for a thinner application -- I prefer thinner tape, and I can't stand sponginess, so I put some stretch on the tape when wrapping. You can wrap without as much stretch if you like a little extra thickness.
Very tough and much easier to care for and clean up than cork. If you like white bar tape, this is the tape to get. I've always been die-hard "black bars," but actually tried and tolerated the white tape for a while, because it was easier to keep clean. Back to black, and there is no substitute.
The icing on the cake is the very unique textured look and feel of this tape. Really looks good, no sheen, but without being too monochrome. The texturing gives the bars and the bike a very "high end" look and feel.
My absolute highest recommendation.

The Best Mar 14, 2010
By David Kaiser The best bar tape. Lasts twice as long as Cinelli. The adhesive is really tough. A little short.

Just Amazing Jul 03, 2011
By KennyCyclist This tape is amazing. This tape is moderately thin. It's perfect for those who like a thickness between electrical tape and cork tape (me). I commute 30 miles round trip five days a week, and I hate the spongy, unsure feeling cork gives me after five or ten miles. Unlike cork, it doesn't force you to hang on to the handlebar harder. It feels like a nice tennis racquet tape. Amazing!

Best tape for me. Jan 05, 2011

This tape is best for me. The tape is not soft. But it is easy to maintain and keep clean. Easy to install and is not rips easily at all as other review suggests. The other review suggests that the tape hard to remove. Not in my case. You have to know how to install the tape properly in the first place. I have installed and remove this tape multiple times without any issue.

Good looking bar tape but not that stretchy Jan 20, 2012
By Edwin Ortiz I was getting tired of looking down at my old, dirty, grease-stained handlebars on my road bike so decided it was time for a re-wrapping. After much research, I decided to settle on Fizik's tape just cause I like the quality of their products. This bar tape is really good looking and has small holes, not sure what the point of those holes are, maybe for weight or just pure aesthetics. I'm a beginning cyclist so it was the first time I wrapped my own bars. Be warned! I compared this tape's stretchiness to my old tape and microtex is barely stretchy which probably makes wrapping more difficult. I spent over an hour looking at YouTube videos, wrapping, unwrapping, and re-wrapping my bars...
I know I could have just taken my bike to my LBS but I wanted to learn on my own. For my first time I think I did a good job and this tape feels very comfortable in your hand. Not much cushioning, but I have no problem with that. It comes with a pair Fizik bar plugs (which didn't fit in my bars), what may or may not be end tape with the Fizik logo on it, and two end pieces that you need to stick behind your shift levels before you actually start wrapping. I didn't know what the end pieces were for at first but the point of them is so there is no gap when you're wrapping around your shift levers. Luckily I watched a video that showed me how to wrap w/o them.
Overall I'm really satisfied with this tape, but I'll have to experiment with other types before I settle with this one as my go-to tape.
Four stars for lack of stretchiness.
UPDATE 11/17/2012
After a little less than a year of riding with this bar tape, I think it's safe to say I got a bang for the buck. I've crashed/fallen around 3 times in the past year (1 time I ended up with particularly bad road rash) and every time, this tape held up like a champ. I actually scraped a side of my bars on every occasion and the tape only ended up with minor tears that were covered up with a quick re-wrapping. I'm hard pressed to buy another pack of tape because the one I am currently using is just so durable. Thumbs up!
