A great, durable system Jun 22, 2008
By ROY PFINGSTEN
"Long-rider"
This system is easy to custom cut, stays put, adds a lot of protection, and can be taped over again and again. Use Torelli Moda Chunky tape for a top-notch system comfortable enough for a double century. (see pic for finished handlebar)

Road cyclists -- you need this stuff Feb 06, 2011
By LoneWolf15 I'm a road bike enthusiast, usually putting on about 1,500 miles a summer. I first found out about this product because I normally double-wrapped my handlebars. I have large hands, so extra diameter is useful to me, and my neck and shoulders aren't as flexible as they used to be, so I can use the extra comfort.
This stuff adds a lot of shock absorption, great if you do day-long rides or tours. I have ridden across Iowa four times, and I was a lot less sore at the end of the day due to this product. If you're a cyclist who likes comfort, this is a simple, inexpensive upgrade you owe it to yourself to buy.
The downside? Well, you'll probably have to buy new bar tape, since you'll have to re-wrap your handlebars. That's the only one. But hey, now you have an excuse to get that tape with the skull-and-crossbones pattern you told your wife you wanted...

Very Nice! Aug 29, 2011
By W. Ries
"Esquire"
So it makes your handlebars a little bit bulkier, and it adds a bit of time to the bar-taping process, but it's completely worth it. Now I can ride pothole-ridden roads without cycling gloves! The pads appear to be high-quality, and I should be able to reuse them.
It states in the instruction book that if you don't want a bulky wrap, wrap the bars in Fi'zi:k Microtex Tape in conjuction with these pads (but I can't vouch for that).
Also, I have large handlebars and still needed to cut them a bit to make them fit. In my opinion, it's a great value for the money. Highly recommend if you are about to rewrap your bars anyway.

Nice gel bar really comfortable Jun 24, 2011
By Man Yu Lui I ordered 3 sets of these to install on my 2 road bikes and my wife's road bike. The gel bars are thin, solid, sticky, and can be cut to fit your handle bar. You get 4 pieces per set and would install the straight pieces on the drop and the curved pieces near the hoods. You will have to unwrap your handle bar (if already wrapped), peel off sheets off of the gel bars, stick the gel bars to the handle bar, then wrap the bar with your favorite bar tape. The gel bars can be removed, washed, and reinstalled, so you will only ever need one set per bike count you own. With the gel bars, the handlebar is much more comfortable to hold and keeps you well insulated from the energy robbing vibration. I highly recommend this product.

You can't have too much comfort on a bike Jul 28, 2010
By W. Brian Kennedy As a randonneur (long distance cycling) enthusiast, I'm constantly looking to add comfort to my bike. Fizik Bar Gel is simply awesome. Unlike some other brands you can cut and trim the gel as necessary. Along with dampening road vibration, it feels extremely comfortable on the hands.
