I happened to buy this directly from Electra [...], I received it within a week of payment; the basket was exactly as described. It was a little tricky putting it on but only because the directions aren't the best. My townie didn't need to use the extra rubber clamps that come along with it; which is supposed make latching on the quick release to easier... but it only made it more difficult. Basically; there's no space. It took roughly about 15-20 mins. And I had no help.... If you take your time you'll get it on with no problem. It's very sturdy and you'll have the option to lower and elevate it to your desire. I was able to put a bottle of water, a magazine, a sandwich and a bag of clothes, along with my phone, keys and ipod; without any problems. I received a lot of complaints... and cars seemed to yield the way. :)

The basket was fine... looks exactly like the displayed picture, and of sturdy quality. But they didn't include the mounting materials, and were "unable" to send them when requested. Boo.

THIS IS A NICE BASKET BUT THEY DO NOT SEND THE BRACKETS. SO GO DIRECTLY TO THE WEB SIGHT FOR THIS BASKET AND ORDER. THE PRICE IS THE SAME AND YOU GET THE BRACKETS TO MOUNT THE BASKET. DO MOT USE AMAZON.

Large size but light load, awkward mount, obstructs view! Apr 15, 2012

I received my new bike basket, but returned it for another. The flimsy mounting system and wicker basket was large, but only supports 11 pounds. I had trouble with the install by myself so I enlisted my husband (a Handyman) for help. I have a ladies Electra Hawaii 3-speed, so this basket should have been a good choice...but NOT! My stock handlebars have a large/thick diameter, so we played with both mount sizes to find the better fit. Neither were exactly right. We wrestled with the mount system for over 30 minutes and finally got it on the bike! We had to turn the bike upside down...I held the nuts in place with a flat-head screw driver while my husband turned the screws with our own wrench to tighten. This was the only way we could keep the nuts from popping out of the mount and rolling away! After it was on the bike I took it out for a test run. The basket obstructed my view and felt really awkward. The mount holds the basket several inches away from the bike which seems unnecessary and odd. I tested the quick release, which stuck on one side after just one try. I'm sure it would have continued to be trouble and likely would break completely after a short while. I returned it and ordered the Nantucket Lightship Classic Front Handlebar Bike Basket in Natural Color from Bikesomewhere.com on Amazon. It went on in two minutes and fits perfectly with the adjustable leather straps... It holds up to 13 pounds, is the perfect size and shape, doesn't obstruct my view and looks great on my bike! Hope this helps you make the right choice. Happy riding!

The basket fits electra bikes perfectly, though why anyone would want this big black plastic thing stuck on a removable basket I don't know. But here's the thing, it does work great, but I never take my basket off. But, if you are going to be removing your basket a lot, I would just get a basket with snap leather straps, much less complicated and quicker.
The basket is very average quality, nothing special about it. Since Electra bikes are so wicked cool I wanted their baskets to be something special.
Bottom line: it fits electra bikes, is sturdy, functions great as a basket. Clasping is large and black and very secure.
