2Poor quality  Dec 22, 2010 By Michael Kaselis
The item looks pretty, but it broke the very first time it was used, literally seconds after it came out of the box. A cheap plastic tab which holds one of the ringers in place broke off and the ringer dropped into the device, jamming it. I remember this type of bell from when I was a child. They were made of chromed steel. They tended to rust over time but they worked even when subject to rough handling. The inner-works on the bell are now made of cheap plastic and apparently are not durable enough to handle even normal use. This seems to be a recurring theme with nearly everything. Are we doomed to endure cheap, poor quality manufactured items forever? I find myself spending more time trying to find quality items and I am absolutely willing to spend more too, but too often there are none to be found, at any price. When will the manufacturers get a clue??

Update (Jan 3, 2011):
I have upgraded my review from one star. Amazon made returning the item very easy. Several clicks of the mouse and the next day UPS was at my door to pick up the item without question or additional charge. A replacement was sent which arrived a couple days later. Still has the cheap plastic but operates as designed so far and has held up over several days of light use by my 5 year old daughter. I still don't really like it because it seems cheaply made but we apparently don't have any better choices. Your mileage may vary...

5Great Bell  Jan 07, 2011 By Ellen Ward
I wanted a traditional bell for my "all things Hawaiian" 5 year old bike rider. This fit the bill perfectly. It was easy to install however my husband had to tighten it a bit more after her first ride. It reminds me of the metal one I had as a child that sported the American flag on the top. Bell works great and I can hear her ring it from pretty far away.

5daughter loves it  Sep 23, 2010 By W. Wexell
I have no trouble finding my daughter when she is riding her bike these days. This bell rings loud and clear and she rings it constantly. It seems to be very sturdy and well made steel construction. She absolutely loves the bell and I expect it to last a good while.

We did have to make a new rule about not ringing the bell in the garage. Its a bit too loud in enclosed spaces.

5Great Quality Bell  Aug 23, 2010 By Cass G
Got this as a gift for a friend, she loves it, looks, and sounds the same after heavy year of use.

5fun and pretty  Jun 11, 2008 By Joy Cardinal
As a 60 yr old who has just taken up biking, I wanted it to be fun and not work. My little hibiscus bell lets people know I am there and gets lots of comments, like where can I get one.
