Dial Speedometer 20" Wheel Bicycle Bike

SKU:

C018

Availability:   Out of stock

This is a brand new reproduction mechanical 20" speedometer. It includes everything you need, speedometer head, driver cable and mounting bracket. Super easy to install. Works on 20" wheel bicycles including Schwinn Stingrays and any other brand 20" wheel bicycle. Please note the cable is about 28" long and the cable will not be long enough for the chopper or the brand new OCC Stingray bicycle. But will fit the older Schwinn Stingrays and all other makes and models with 20" front wheels. If you have a chopper bicycle or a bicycle with a extended fork, measure from the bottom of the handlebars to the front axle and make sure it's not any longer then 28". For bicycle use only...not to be used on motorized scooters or bicycles. If you have any questions, please e-mail me. Easy to install.

3Worked after I completely disassembled it and cleaned it  Jan 05, 2009 By G. Worner
Needle stuck and registered incorrectly (way too fast) when I installed it. I took the head completely apart and cleaned all the parts. They seemed covered in corn syrup. I cleaned them all in soapy water (all plastic parts) and reassembled the head. It seems OK now. I swear it is a leftover from the 70's when I had one on my little schwinn 20". It is IDENTICAL to the one I had. Works well now, and cable is tough enough to stand up. My son had a digital one, but the front wheel spun around and snapped the tiny little wire, so we are giving this a shot as I dont want to spend 50+ on wireless versions.

5Stationary Bike Speedometer  Nov 24, 2009 By Linvel R. Holland
The Speedometer works great and makes the antiquated bike seem like new. Manufacture or retailer could not supply replacement item.

5Old style bike speedometer  Apr 14, 2010 By Richard D. Guba "tenor sax man"
This is basically an exact reproduction of a unit I had as a kid in the 70s. The only drawback is as has been written there are no instructions. The answer is to follow the instructions that folks have posted on amazon for this item. The tricky part is the sending unit has a cap on it that can be placed on the other side. This is to allow for placement on the right or left. The standard placement is on the right. If you place on the left you remove the cap and use the other side. This unit works great on an old schwinn. You can not beat the price

4Great product / poor instructions  Jan 25, 2010 By Pete Crozier
Installed this speedometer on my seven year old son's 18" bike, so the cable is bit long, and the readings are about 10% too high otherwise the speedometer works great.

Cons:
It is largely plastic, so don't expect it to survive impacts. There were no instructions, so if you haven't installed a bike speedometer before, installation may be a bit challenging.
The cable needing lubricating to make it run smooth, so putting several drops of fine machine or chain lubricant down the cable sleeve would be a good idea.
Would have given 5 stars but for these issues.

Pros:
My son loves it! He thinks it makes his bike look super-cool (which it does) and it encourages him to go farther and faster as he watches the odometer count climb and sees how fast he can go.

1Dial Speedometer 20" Wheel Bicycle Bike  Jan 11, 2010 By Dale A. Meyn "Dale"
This speedometer was inoperable - the needle simply jumped around. something inside is stuck. I was able to use the cable and sending unit which mounts on the wheel hub with my old speedometer, whose cable had broken.
