These are pretty nice toe clips. They are plastic and flexible. I don't foresee these breaking or snapping from normal usage. The straps are of good quality, although some instructions on the best way to rout them would have been helpful.
The lack of instructions is why I took off a star. It's annoying to have to guess which is the right way to thread the straps.
I installed these on some crummy old plastic pedals. I had to drill holes in the pedals to attach the clips. They fit snugly and securely with the included screws and lock nuts.
The clips have horizontal slots which accommodate various pedal hole placement as well as clip placement.
I would say size 9 men's shoe would be the cutoff for the small size as the clips are indeed small. An average sized man would probably need a medium or even large size.I have size 8 feet and the small size fits me well when wearing vans style slip on shoes. I would need a medium if I wore larger style shoes.
The small size is only $4. Just go for it. they improve your pedaling efficiency enormously.
Protip: practice getting in and out of these somewhere where no one can see you fall on your side at 1 mph.

Inexpensive and very helpful Oct 23, 2008
By J. Wirrell These toe clips were generally easy to install, except it would have been nice to have a better illustration of how to thread the strap into the clip. I found a website that illustrated how to thread it and so that worked out fine. These have worked out wonderfully for me - MUCH easier to pedal with them, and I have no problem at all getting my feet out of the straps quickly when I need to. Well worth the expense!
Toe Clips --- Small Mar 11, 2012
By D. Sloss I put these on my 10 yr. old daughters bike. Product installed easily and the small size fits her foot well. The plastic used to manufacture the clips seems to be flexible, yet strong enough, to stand up to the abuse that a kid will give it. Our only complaint would be that the straps are too long for her size foot. I'm guessing that they use the same straps for all size clips. The problem can be easily fixed with a pair of scissors and probably a lighter to re-melt the cut end of the strap so it doesn't fray. Great product. I would buy it again.
THEY BROKE WHILE RIDING!!! May 13, 2011
By KEN Ok, so I buy from Amazon all the time and this is the first time I've ever felt inclined to write a product review. Writing now because THESE PEDAL CLIPS SUCK.
ONE SNAPPED IN HALF WHILE I WAS RIDING TODAY.
I bought these on March 21st, 2011. Today is May 12th, 2011! I haven't even had them for a full 2 months!! and April was still pretty cold out (New England) so I've barely even riden these things.
One snapped in half right at the point where they get screwed into the pedal.
Now, I've had pedal clips before, and they lasted me YEARS.
CONCLUSION: DON"T BUY THESE THEY SUCK.
