They Do The Job Sep 12, 2009 First, note that I have owned earlier versions of these gloves before, which wore out after using them a long time - I have some bias toward the old ones because I'm used to them. :)
These gloves are okay, they do the job. The new brown crocheted top is no cooler than the old perforated black jersey fabric - in fact, it's warmer. I don't like how they moved the "Bell" logo from the inside of the wrist to the outside - now I get to be a walking advertisement. Also, these aren't very well made - part of the velcro wasn't sewn on right, and just all the stitches didn't seem to be very straight; it looks like the person who made them was in a big hurry. I do wish they were easier to remove - on the package it says that they will last longer if you peel them off from the wrist, rather than pulling from the fingers openings. This is true - my old gloves got tears where I pulled them off from the fingers, so now I peel them off from the wrist, but this is not easy to do with sweaty, tired hands after a long ride.
Aside from all these flaws, though, these gloves work just fine. I'm careful when I open the velcro so I don't mess up the part that was sewn badly, and it hasn't given me problems. These gloves are serving me well keeping me from getting blisters and callouses, as well as keeping my skin intact whenever I take a spill.
Another note is that these gloves are versatile: they're great for much more than biking. I sometimes wear them when I'm working with hand tools: they're great when you want protection on your palms from blisters, but need your fingers free to do intricate work.
