4Cute and Convenient, but don't last long  Jul 09, 2011 By TJD "Kara Thrace's Special Destiny"
I've purchased two sets of these bags with different prints, and I really do love them. They look great on my Electra Townie, and they have loads of volume. I have used these bags to haul a large bag of charcoal in one side, and two gallons of water plus groceries in the other. Just make sure your brakes are good! I regularly use them to haul textbooks, laptop, notebooks, etc and they hold up well. When I bought them, I pretty extensively compared volume to price, and these came out on top by far. You just can't get this size for this price anywhere else. I never had trouble with my heels hitting the bags, but my bike is designed for a relaxed riding position and that probably helps.

They aren't waterproof, but they are pretty well water resistant. If you have the straps tight enough, a mild to moderate rain shower won't get your stuff wet. I even went through a rather epic rain shower (soaked to my bones halfway through, nowhere to stop), and there was only a small puddle in the bottom of one of my bags. My school bag (open top, over the shoulder, cotton thing) did not even get wet on the inside, so my laptop and textbooks were safe. Keep a plastic grocery bag on hand just in case, and you should be fine.

However, I am shopping around to find a better option. On both my old sets, the nylon straps and trim start to disintegrate at about 2 years old, and it is swiftly downhill from there. I do keep my bike outdoors in the elements, so if you store yours indoors this might not be a problem. Actually, I moved to a place with a garage this month, so maybe I will stick to Basil Blossoms.

Unfortunately, the cute yellow Axiom bags I was looking at for a replacement seem to have the same attachment method of random velcro at the bottom and straps at the top, and also nylon straps. I might get them anyway because I don't need to remove my bags except when getting the bike serviced, but the velcro at the bottom is just wonky. Basil gave no instructions on how to attach it, so after a couple times of having to take them off for service, eventually I just gave up on them and my bags would shift forward and back into my spokes. Not cool.

4definitely might hit your rear wheel, works well with fenders. great price and looks  Jan 14, 2012 By D. patton "dougie fresh"
Cute bags that my girlfriend really likes. They're difficult to take on and off the bike, so expect to just leave them on for long stretches at a time.

They seem like they'll keep out modest precipitation, but water will definitely get in if there's much of it.

If you have a regular rear rack and no fenders, You will almost certainly have problems with the bag leaning into your spokes. I highly recommend you pair these bags with a touring type rack that has an extra set of bars swooping towards the back (i.e. to help keep the bag out of the spokes.

If you're crafty and creative, you can do a lot by altering the attachment to the bike to increase the stability of the bags. You could also use buckles to make the bag much easier to attach and remove from the bike. A shoulder strap would be a nice addition too.

You will want to mount these bags as far back on your rack as possible to reduce the likelihood of hitting your heels. If your frame has a short rear end (i.e. a racing bike), you're more likely to hit your heels on the bag. Most panniers are shaped to reduce this likelihood.

4Beautiful and Girly  Jan 31, 2012 By Julia Gulia
The bags were very pretty and just the right amount of girly. They were larger than my previous panniers and could handle a trip to the grocery store for me easily. However, as another reviewer stated the color is not as pictured. Doing paint color matching the SW color is right about Georgian Bay. Hopefully that will help avoid some color disappointment. :)

3Sad.  Jul 21, 2011 By ahh man.
The one I got is the color of the seat cover, I'm really bummed that the blue was not the vibrant turquoise like the picture.

5Stylish and functional  May 21, 2009 By H. Schatz "red but green"
I was so excited when I opened these bags up! They are very nice quality and will definitely hold everything I need them to. Can't wait to take them grocery shopping!
