5Ingenuity, quality, and style!  Jul 04, 2009 By Patricia Lamb "a Teenager's Best Friend"
I love this bag! Now, it doesn't fit on the handlebars of my Townie Sport 2200, which was the goal, but should fit well on another bike. It should work fine on a "normal" rear-mounted book rack, but heavy contents will make it want to lean into the spokes of your rear wheel if your book rack is mounted to your seat stem, as mine is. A book rack that has struts to your rear axle will prevent the problem. So I have an unusual bike. Most other bikes won't have these issues. The bag is solid, I like the style, and it has concealed hooks to suspend it from a horizontal bar. It's a nice, moderate size, easy to detach and reattach. It has reflector tape on the inside of the edge. It's just done so right. I particularly like black and white things: this is a very stark white and a very black black.

4Good looking and durable saddlebag/pannier.  Aug 04, 2011 By J. James
Bought 2 as a gift to my wife, she really likes them. They snap right on the existing rack, no trouble. I do wish they were a little less flexible as they can sag when loaded and rub against the back wheel sometimes. I also installed a set of full fenders on her bike at the same time, so that pretty much took care of the problem. Depending on the shape of your rack and the width of your wheels (we have hybrid bikes with fat semi-knobby almost mountain bike tires) you may or may not have this problem. Even without fenders I could have zip-tied some flat brackets to the rack to prevent the bags from rubbing the tire - an easy fix. I'm surprised they don't sell a million of these, they are very handy!

5Great comments on this bag.  May 03, 2011 By Patty Hoskins
I love this bag. I've been using it for a year on my Surly LHT. It holds a large bag of groceries. The top zipper is holding up well. Very fashionable and has high visibility. I'm always getting great comments. I even had a lady stop me in her car to ask how the bag was attached to my bike. I lifts right off the rack and I take it right into the store. The little zipper pocket inside is a great place to put your wallet and keys.

5Fits my dutch bicycle perfect!  Mar 08, 2011 By LadyEnoki
I did a bunch of research on what type of pannier to put on my Royal Dutch Gazelle Toer Populaire bicycle and I decided upon the Basil Mirte. At least for now. I like how it is built to fit my bicycle (both come from the Netherlands) and that it allows use of the rear rack and those bungee straps that come with it. Double sided panniers don't allow this. This is particularly useful when I want to get a 12 pack of beer and load it onto the rear rack. I secure it with the bungee straps on the rear rack from side to side and then front to back I hook an extra cord. I have fit a lot into this poor bag and feel perfectly comfortable riding with it hanging open. I liked the fact that it zippers and can be removed easily and I use it while shopping to put items in instead of a cart. I was looking at those panniers with plastic clips or magnetic clips but they just look SO saggy and so unstable that I could not see it as reasonable for me. I much prefer the zipper especially when hauling a heavy load because at least I know it won't snap open. This bag is very deep so even hanging open I don't feel that anything will fall out. Sometimes it gets stuffed easily with 10-20lbs of "stuff" and it handles it well. I was skeptical about the plastic clips but so far they are good. I can't speak for long term just yet. It's stylish and visible and has nice reflective strips on the front and back. Hence 5 stars!

Check out pictures of it on my blog[...]

5Great Bike Accessory  Aug 18, 2008 By Michaela Platzer
I just purchased the Basil Mirte, Design Shopper, and took it with me to the neighborhood grocery store. What a great bike accessory. The shopper easily holds a basket of groceries.

Fill your shopper, clip it to your bike, and head home.

What a great way to be "green" and "fashionable."
