Excellent choice for the parent of an 8-year old Sep 03, 2009
By Jon Before buying this product I was concerned that 24" is rather large for a trail-a-bike. But it turned out to be excellent for a 7 to 8-year old child. The seat can be adjusted to accommodate younger or older kids. My son really enjoys the 7-speed which helps a lot when we climb a hill. In many ways he likes it better than his own bike because we can travel long distances in the nearby state park, and go much faster. Like all trail-a-bikes, there is a bit of wobbling when your child tilts it from one side to another. But in time both you and your child get better at it, and stop wobbling.
The bike is nicely built and is easy to assemble. We don't use the folder at all but it is good to know that you have the option. So, yes, this bike is fairly expensive. But I think it is definitely worth the price.

Very Dissapointed Jul 24, 2009

Did my research on this one, and thought I was paying for a quality product. Always a fan of Canadian companies. The joint is just too instable and has no means for tightening it. I am a very strong rider, but with this trailer and my kid on the back, I felt very unsafe, the joint has all this give, and my child's weight rocks side to side too much. My wife would have no chance of trailering this and would be in the ditch within a minute. My comments are specific to the 24", as I imagine the smaller units- although using the same universal joint- could maybe suffice with a much smaller child on the back... don't know.
From reading more boards, find that some folks receive theirs with tighter joints than others, but everyone reporting that the joint loosens up over time, so its really a design shortcoming.
Beyond the U-joint, this trailer is heavy, almost twice the weight of my road bike... look across the warehouse, Adams, to all that aluminum, that should have been a no brainer. Finally, there is this fat knobby tire on this trailer, don't understand that one at all.
I am going to go the extra mile and get the Burley Piccolo. Unfortunately, I have a 2-hour job to pack this one back up and return it.
I cynically give it a 3-star because I can only imagine how flimsy the cheaper alternatives are.
