2fine basket, but can't mount it for use  Mar 25, 2009 By E. Naden
I bought the axiom basket for my roommate's bike as a present. It come with a random selection of hardware and zero mounting instructions. When i contacted the Axiom company they told me that they did not have mounting instructions, but that my local bike shop would be able to figure it out, WTF? They couldn't even type them out in an email for me.

1unsure of sturdiness of plastic attachment piece  Feb 06, 2010 By Shopping for the kids
If you don't put much weight in this basket, I am sure the bracket will hold up fine...but it doesn't seem super sturdy to me.
Grocery items and such...a definite no go. A camera or other light weight object, it should be just fine.
I bought this to match the eleven81 rattan look QR rear basket, and it matches PERFECTLY. The axiom faux rattan rear basket is a larger weave, but the eleven81 counterpart is a spot on match. On another of our bikes we have an electra quick release basket, and that is what I am using for comparison for sturdiness. It is the same size, but the plastic mounting hardware FAR SURPASSES the mounting hardware on this one I think. It just has a bit too much bounce for my comfort. Having said that, it is gorgeous and I am certainly keeping it.

AMENDMENT: Two weeks later, and it broke! If you are very careful and dont put any weight in, it might be okay, but mine just broke with about 2 lbs in it on a smooth road...so buyer beware. I think the plastic hardware is too flimsy and allows for way too much movement. I am returning this item. The electra QR wicker basket on my other bike is WAY sturdier.

3Good for heavy, low volume loads  Aug 12, 2009 By Anna Elzeftawy "annajehan"
I bought this basket for groceries and commuting, and I don't own a car, so this was it for carrying capacity. I also bought the Basil Cesa Luxe Basket 11122 " Titanium basket to test them both out.

This model was a little sturdier feeling than the Basil, and I liked the nibs that grip your rack a lot better than the Basil's because the grooves were much deeper and it had less wobble. Here's the nutshell.

Pros:
High capacity, and lowered front end for seat clearance
Study construction and comfortable handle
Easy and quick on/off
Attachment point for rear light hardware

Cons:
Wide shallow shape makes carrying light, bulky things like an armful of clothes difficult
No good place to attach my bungee or webbing hooks to secure contents

The basket is super sturdy, so I was comfortable enough to put my laptop, a cooler full of beer, some heavy books, etc into it without them falling out or taking the whole assembly down. Where I ran into problems was with things that would blow away like papers, clothes, etc. I ended up giving it away because I always carry so much stuff that I really couldn't secure in any way. I'm going to purchase some panniers instead.

This is not to say that someone with a different use profile might not love it, like a student with books and a laptop, or someone who only does groceries (which have their own bags) or has a small dog (which can't blow out, let's face it) that you can leash to the handle or something. If that sounds like you, this basket might fit the bill!

5I use a small bungee cord for extra security  Jun 19, 2011 By Desert Dancer
I bought the QR Rear Basket...it is super easy to attach. I did use a small bungee cord going under my rack and hooking on each of the basket's quick release handles for extra security. So, I had a 25 pound bag in it and no problems. I pack it full several times a week.

4This product needs mounting instructions  Dec 15, 2009 By planetmike
The actual quality of the materials for this basket is great. However, it was shipped without mounting instructions of any kind. I found a way to mount the basket and it works and looks perfect with my new Breezer Uptown. However, I can understand how some people would be intimidated by the lack of mounting instructions which result in returning the basket to the vendor.

I also understand why the vendor provides NO instructions since location of your fork stem, type and size of your handlebar, type of fork, type of front brake, and the location of control cables, can all affect the way you mount the basket. Trying to provide instructions to accommodate all these varied possibilities would be difficult. However, I believe the vendor should provide at least three illustrative ways of mounting the basket, which would give the buyer some visual idea as to how to begin installing the basket.
