I was in the market for a new mountain bike and after looking at the prices of new higher-end bike brands, I thought about refurbishing my current older Giant bike with some new components. Amazon is the perfect place to shop while sitting in your chair avoiding traffic and crowds. The set of Avenir Alloy Pedals, Silver , 9/16 Inch Axle I bought fit perfectly and give me exactly what I wanted without over spending. They look great and provide no slippage of my shoes while riding. And the price was just right.

these are durable, easy to use, well made, and seem very sturdy. great purchase for the price! 2 come in a pack. that was not clearly stated (i wondered because of the low price, even though it seems obvious)

The pedals themselves are OK if you are looking for a big, heavy massive-type pedal. The problem with the set I received is that they were put together badly. One turned with difficulty, accompanied by a gritty, grinding feel. The other was also extremely tight and made a strange moaning squeak. I guess semi-useable as-is, but the badly adjusted bearings would have worn out quickly.

To fix this I removed the cages with a hex wrench,popped the plastic end cap off, loosened the bearings, tried to squirt a little silicon grease in while I was at it. Then I tightened to an appropriate level, ie, a little resistance when spinning them in the hand, not a lot of resistance.

Given that I spent half an hour fixing them, it would have been worth it to spend twice as much money on the MKS Stream Pedal Silver Flat Cages. On the other hand, those are nice pedals, and part of my intention in buying these is to keep my commuter bike unattractive to thieves. In that way, these pedals are tops.

Not too much to say about these, other than they are all metal, and have a solid feel and good grip on your shoes that keeps your feet from slipping off. you can also add toe clips for even greater connection, which I might do later. I am 100% satisfied with these so far.

As others have said, these are nice, all metal pedals that you can add toe clips to. I easily put on some half toe clips. The Wellgo name is on the pedals and they were made in Taiwan. So for those who refuse to buy something from Avenir, the Wellgo name may make you more comfortable. There is a K79 stamp on them, but I could not find that listing on the Wellgo site. They appear to resemble model LU-C8. Like any pedals, they were a cinch to install. All you need is a 15mm open wrench, or an adjustable wrench, and some white lithium grease.
